Colourful Things

Today, I came across a very cute & creative idea by a Malaysian-based artist/illustrator, minifanfan.  So colourful and happy!  A great way to dress up your laptops / computers / anything else with keypads/buttons this holidays!

So, I was inspired to make some colourful collages!

Christmas Baubles

Recently, I made some baubles as part of &company‘s stall at The Finders Keepers Markets last weekend in Sydney.  They were basically two entwined rings, made using a modular origami folding method which I learnt as a child.  Here they are!

I made a few variations – to suit different tastes – sparkly gold & pearl, cute red-n-white candy cane, and ‘rustic’ kraft paper versions.

I’ve been told that they will be sold at &company’s Studio&Store at the Gaffa Gallery in the lead up to Christmas…so, if you want some origami baubles for your Christmas tree this year, go grab some!  Ho ho ho!!!

Gift Guide : Books

Today’s gift guide is books!  This year, I’ve been addicted to buying books.  It’s a wonderful feeling to see my shelf filling up with design + craft + creative books, but when it comes to moving house, it’s definitely on the top of the list of ‘heaviest-things-to-move’…I wish I have a magic wand that I can use to make my books small and lightweight during house-moving.  :)

This list is actually more like my wishlist and I feel a very very strong urge to buy at least two of them – can you guess which two?  hehehhe

Lots of inspiring artisans’ (loving that word) projects featured in this book by Olivier Dupon.

Ahhhhhh! minä perhonen!!!  Such beautiful prints and textiles~  A retrospective of the past 15 years since its establishment.  I’ve had a flick through this book and the images inside are truly, truly inspiring!

Something cute for the craft-enthusiasts out there!  Very beautiful images of crafting tools and materials – best dictionary ever haha!

*All 3 images above from perimeterbooks*

These two books above have just been translated to English!  Yeay for us who adore Japanese how-to books and are Jap-illiterate!

Victionary has once again come up with a gorgeous book; this time with a focus on art direction and fashion photography, aptly entitled ‘Mastermind’.

This book has been out for a while now but is still to-desire-for nonetheless.

Gift Guide : Jewelry

Hello!  The happy-merry-gift-giving season is almost here and I just can’t resist to do a few gift guide entries.  First up, jewelry.

An origami necklace from Homako.  I’ve been in love with her jewelry since discovering her a few months ago and these few days I’ve seen her pieces appearing in several blogs.  Yeay!

Seems like braided/knitted/crocheted jewelry is a big hit right now and this one from AAliciaAccessories looks like it can keep you lucky people (in the Northern Hemisphere) warm during Christmas!  :D

If the previous wasn’t warm enough, add another one, hahha :P

From LOLLOPdesign.

Another fabric necklace – I love the simplicity of it.  From Urban Creatures.

Beware!  Felt balls are everywhere – from rugs to necklaces.  But this colour scheme is so bright, glowy and merry that it is just very right for the holiday season.  From Feltik.

This pretty denim necklace from Nest Pretty Things.

A bright red brooch from Uloni.  This lady does amazing crocheted sculptural wearables!

Hand-painted geometric necklace from Vickygonart.

Rachel Loves Bob makes geometric necklaces out of vintage book covers!

How about some jewelry for our dear pets?

This pet tag and leash from Blink is so pretty and might be a very good present for my dog heeheheh.
