Lately, I’ve been busy preparing stock for my first ever stall at the Finders Keepers Markets, hence the quiet blog.  The market is in a week’s time and I am getting very excited and nervous!  Stock preparation is still underway – there is so much to do – and there is the stall display as well to prepare for.  So little time, so much to do!  But I love this kind of busy…if only my online orders can keep me as busy as this, hahah.  :P

Some pics to show some of the preparation I was/am working on!  :D

After coming back from my short trip away, I decided to tidy up my workspace before turning on the turbo to prepare stock for the upcoming market.

Rings rings rings

Sawing & sanding the wooden parts.

More sawing & sanding.

Hand-braided linen string.

New products!  This is not the finished look though…will keep it a surprise until the market!  :D

Cutting linen.

Multiples.

All sewn and ready to be painted.

Yeay!  Hanging to dry!

Working on more illustrations~

Still so much to do!  Gotta get back to work!  :)

Do not forget, those who are in Sydney on the 1st and/or 2nd June, do come to the Finders Keepers Markets at CarriageWorks!

I’m very excited to announce that Whimsy Milieu will be holding its first ever stall at the Finders Keepers Market.  The Finders Keepers Market is an art and design market, dedicated to support indie and emerging designers and artists.  It is a biannual event which started in Sydney and is now also happening in both Melbourne and Brisbane.  The upcoming one in Sydney is on the 1st and 2nd June (Friday night and whole day on Saturday)…so for those of you who are in Sydney (or visiting Sydney that weekend), do come visit and drop by my stall to say ‘Hi’!  :D

Right now, I’m pushing myself to produce stock to sell at the market – it is not very easy when you are the only person in your business – handling both the business and creative sides, and also millions of other things in between – but, I love what I do and I hope my products will bring happiness, fun, and a smile to the end-users.

During the market, I will be selling the whole Outré Forest Treasures collection, a new range of wooden rings (various shapes & colours!), a limited batch of hand-painted tea towels, and prints of my illustrations (including some new ones!).

Below is the market flyer from the Finders Keepers website.

People in Sydney – do not forget, keep either 1st or 2nd June free – visit the Finders Keepers Market – you won’t regret it!   :D

Mother’s Day is not very far away now.  I’ve just had some of my Love Ring design lasercut and I received them two days ago.  After giving them a good sanding and some painting, they are now for sale on my Etsy shop – just in time for Mother’s Day!

There will be more designs (besides this heart-shaped one) coming soon!  Stay tuned!  :D

‘W’ is for Whimsy!  ;)

Get the Love Ring now in time for Mother’s Day!  :)

My new jewellery collection is finally launching today!  After months of designing and prototyping and planning…and the last few weeks of long-working-hours, it’s finally here!  I hope you all love it as much as I do!  :)

To view more photos of the jewellery and for purchases, head on over to my Etsy store!  Thanks so much!  :)

You might remember the Countdown Competition to guess the launch date of my jewellery collection.  Now, nearing the launch date, I am holding another competition (with a prize!)

Just ‘Like’ my Whimsy Milieu facebook page, go to this album and click on your favourite ‘glimpse’.  I will choose a random winner from the photo with the most ‘Likes’!

Both winners for the Countdown Competition and this competition will be announced on the launch date!  (which is really near, woohoo!!!)

Have a guess – is the pouch really big, or is the pumpkin really tiny?  Hahahah

When I recently moved house, I was given two chests of drawers – they were really ugly but I didn’t want to throw them out, so I decided to give them a makeover.  Here are the before and after (and progress) photos!  I decided to use different-sized wooden knobs for each drawer, so that it doesn’t look so boring, heheheh.  What do you think?  Enjoy!~

In order to determine which piece from my collection to give to the winner (first person to guess the collection’s launch date correctly), I have decided to let everyone choose!  I’ve put up an album containing ‘glimpses’ of every piece of the upcoming collection – the one that gets the most ‘Likes’ will be given to the winner.  Yeay!  To vote and for a chance to win, please ‘Like’ the Whimsy Milieu fb page  here and follow the instructions!

Oh my oh my; how time flies!  It’s already March – almost a quarter of the year is gone!

When writing my blueprint for the year 2012, I planned to launch my first jewellery collection by the first quarter of the year.  I’m happy to say I’m almost there!  There are still some matters to settle, and then I can start working to produce the first batch – hurray!  The tentative date for my launch will be early April…so stay tuned!

I’m so excited, and I hope you guys are excited too – so I’m going to let you have a tiny sneak peak at some of the prototypes.  :D
